Dental Exam in Burnaby BC

Are you looking for a Burnaby, BC dentist because it is time for your next dental exam? Give us a call!

Regular Dental Exams

If no one has ever explained it to you, you might wonder what exactly it is that your dentist is looking for when he performs a dental exam. At Central Park Dental Clinic, Dr. Chan performs a full exam including each individual tooth, looking for signs of wear, cracks, damage, and decay. He also looks for signs of a clenching and grinding habit such as chipped teeth and notched teeth at the gumline.

In addition to examining individual teeth, he will also determine if your bit comes together correctly. If you experience jaw pain, your bite may be out of alignment and cause discomfort and sensitivity.

Gum Health

Your gums are an important part of your oral health. At your exam, you may hear us taking measurements and calling out numbers such as one, two, and three. We are measuring the pocketing around your gums. Numbers up to three are healthy, anything above a three indicates that you have some level of gum disease. The higher the number, the more severe it is.

Oral Cancer Screening in the V5H 1Y8 Area

An oral cancer screening is part of your routine dental exam. Oral cancer is a particularly difficult cancer to treat. Early detection, usually by your dentist, improves your prognosis dramatically.

We are also curious if you are happy with the appearance of your smile. Do you like the appearance of your teeth? The color? Shade? If not, you should let us know so that we can discuss cosmetic dentistry options with you. Having a beautiful smile is something that you can feel proud of each and every day.
